Since the pictures of Influencers and celebrities having Microneedling might scare you. Don’t worry anymore. This article is going to set the records straight for you, so without any further ado let's dive deeper into the peculiarities and particularities of both PRP and PRF Microneedling treatments.

Microneedling with PRP

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Microneedling is also known as Vampire Facial.

According to Medical News Today, PRP micro-needling is defined as a cosmetic treatment that boosts collagen production. Since the liquid in the blood is Plasma. However, the Platelets are solid. Therefore, Platelets highly aid in the process of blood clotting. Hence, it is an essential component of the healing process.

PRP is comprised of those proteins that are responsible for growth. Moreover, they help the skin tissues to repair themselves.

Microneedling with PRF

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) Microneedling is a skin rejuvenating treatment that is aimed at providing a younger and youthful appearance to the skin. It is a minimally invasive treatment that is highly effective against treating dark spots, superficial lines, wrinkles and creases, and other signs of aging. Furthermore, they also increase the volume of the face.

PRF has great healing abilities and for this, it has been used in many treatments for a while like maxillofacial and dental surgeries.

How is PRP Microneedling Done?

Firstly, your blood sample is taken and then PRP is separated from the rest of the blood using a centrifuge machine in which it is spun. Next, a numbing cream is applied to your face and your skin is pricked using a microneedling tool called Derma Roller, by making tiny holes in the surface of your skin. This stimulates collagen production, cell reproduction, and facial rejuvenation.

After this, The PRP is massaged to your face to certain areas of your face where the treatment is required. This helps the plasma and all other components of PRP to penetrate the skin cells and rejuvenate them.

Finally, a mild soothing cream or balm is applied to the treated area to alleviate redness and oozing.

How is PRF Microneedling Done

The Process of PRF Microneedling is quite similar to that of PRP Microneedling since both of them have common procedures of microneedling and centrifugation.

The provider will draw the PRF from your blood by obtaining a certain amount of blood before the treatment is started. Next is centrifuged and PRF is separated from the other components of blood.

The PRF is extracted from the edge of the vessel into a syringe after centrifuging. PRF is then used with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to augment facial volume. This treatment has had great success rejuvenating under-eye hollows and many other areas.

What are the Benefits of PRP Microneedling?

PRP Micro-needling or vampire facial has taken the entire aesthetics industry by storm since it is a 100% natural treatment that is free from side effects and no downtime is associated with it. It has been endorsed by many public figures, bloggers, influencers, and celebrities and the following benefits will prove why.

They can diminish the appearance of dark circles and eye bags.

How is PRF Different from PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the first-generation plate concentrate because of the small duration of cytokine discharge and its poor mechanical potentials, alternative material has been required.

On the Other hand, Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a natural biomaterial that enables fibrin membranes enhanced with platelets and growth factors to be attained without any artificial biochemical modification.

PRF is more advantageous than PRP in numerous ways: deliberate polymerization during centrifugation, brin-based structure, easiness of manufacture, and low cost to name but a few.

PRP contains chemicals and anticoagulants. On the other hand, The PRF is wholly natural. The absence of these chemicals in PRF enables the fibrin scaffolding to form spontaneously, enabling the growth factors to release slightly into the skin. These growth factors are released over a more prolonged period by PRF, and consequently, long-lasting benefits are leveraged.

Why is PRF superior to PRP microneedling

  • PRF gives the same benefits and advantages as PRP. Alongside it also releases more growth factors over time, which means that it continues working for you even after the procedure is done.

  • The production of PRF is more direct as compared to PRP.

  • No blood manipulation is involved in PRF.

  • No additives are used in PRF.

  • PRF produces a portion of blood product more noticeable than the share of blood taken.

  • PRF has more healing factors as compared to PRP.

Who can perform Microneedling?

While it's possible that licensed estheticians can perform microneedling at a certain depth in other states, in the state of California, only a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and higher can perform microneedling treatment. It does not matter what depth the needles are set, no one else can do the treatments. Microneedling penetrates the skin and, by technicality, is a minimally invasive medical procedure. Be very cautious when having an unlicensed practitioner perform any treatments on your face. In addition, jst like any medical procedure, this requires a consultation with a medical provider.
